As part of our Phase 1 work of the creation and dissemination of performative material based on key research findings, our very own Julia Griffin and Scott Thurston performed at the Riga Performance Festival: Starptelpa.
Their performance piece 'Getting Out Of Your Own Way' explores four key concepts from research in the effectiveness of dance movement psychotherapy for people with depression : embodiment, relationality, movement metaphor and narrative. Developing out of improvisations between a dancer/choreographer, a poet and a musician, these concepts have been translated to movement, text and sounds and back again.
The festival itself is a truly innovative, contemporary performance festival with an incredible programme of creative, expressive and thought-provoking performances. Our thanks go to Indra and Simona for facilitating our performance.
